The Age of Terror Taliban
Until 11 September 2001 very few were aware of the situation in Afghanistan. Then Bush declared 'that the Taliban protected Osama Bin Laden, and got to know the reality'.
TALIBAN
The term Taliban or Taliban (in Pashto: طالبان, Taliban, Taliban ruled, plural of Talib, that "students / student"), suggests students of Koranic schools ( charge of the first summary literacy, based exclusively on Islamic scriptures). They became famous on the organs of mass communication, which uses this term for the fundamentalist population in Afghanistan and in neighboring Pakistan.
have developed as a political movement and military to defend the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Taliban are known for being the bearers of the ideal political and religious events he would like to recover all of the leading cultural, social, legal and economic Islam (at least as understood and interpreted by them) to set up a theocratic state.
After a bloody civil war that saw them prevail over the Tajiks and Uzbeks, they have ruled over most of Afghanistan (excluding the regions west and north) from 1996 to 2001, receiving diplomatic recognition from only three countries: United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The most influential members, including Mullah Mohammed Omar, the religious leader of the movement, were ulema (Islamic religious scholars), the level of Islamic education was limited, however, taught in madrassas instead of simple study in colleges specializing in religious sciences. [citation needed] hostile to adapt their home to the world's most modern societies, they rejected any attempt at interpretation that was not framed in the more conservative cultural and spiritual tradition of Islamic thought, adopting a attitude fierce repression against opposition and making back the status of women at a stage much worse than that existing in Afghanistan during the monarchy, before the invasion by the Red Army.
